The Great Humbling
Many keep talking about the great awakening, and the next big revival in history forgetting about what ushers the move of God. The now move is that of the great humbling, this move began about a year ago with many of His loved ones who have desired obedience, which is to love Him. This move is now spreading into the rest of the body.
The last 3 years of my life have been a slow burn, the sacrifice pleasant to the Lord in which from obedience, I have had to die to self, but in the last 4 months a greater humbling has taken place.
After a job loss in July of 2025, having no capacity to seek another “suitable” job, I landed a house cleaning job. Now I know there is no shame in doing this job but honestly, it was a blow to the pride I still carried. I had just released a book where I mentioned an instance where I felt like the cleaning Cinderella a few years ago, and now here I was, cleaning as a living. There were days I would cry in my car, and I would cry as I cleaned toilets feeling like I hit rock bottom, feeling like I was the very scum I was wiping off the showers and floors.
It wasn’t until one day as we were cleaning a house God started speaking. I cleaned a master bedroom and one wall had three mirrors and three windows. The fact it was 3 of each I knew it was significant, three represents perfect completion. I heard the Lord say, “As you clean these neglected places of the home, so will I clean the neglected places of your heart and life. As I cleanse you, you will be able to see clearly, face to face, you will be able to reflect my reflection.” The lessons began.
Are you willing to be humbled and do what many don’t want to do?
“The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Matthew 23:11-12
I was starting to put my identity in the job I had previously, feeling like I was finally thriving because of what I did. And then once that was taken away, the process of learning who I really am regardless on what I do needed to be rooted deep within my being. The world throws a bunch of filth at us tainting, twisting, and distorting how we see ourselves. We are to see ourselves the way God sees us and when the windows are dirty, and the mirrors are dirty, we see a smeared image. We begin to either belittle ourselves or we begin to exalt ourselves. When we see clearly, we can be honest, true, and humble. God wants our hearts to reflect His and our identity to be placed in Him not the accolades, not the titles, not the fame.
It was last week when I was finally able to release this word. This is how I knew it wasn’t just a word for me, but for the body! I was cleaning a toilet the brand name of the toilet captured my attention, that name was “Church.” As I cleaned this toilet God revealed what He was doing. His church has been a cesspool, the defilement of the world has made it into the church and the hearts of the people and now God is cleaning out the grime and waste. So, I heard, “You have personally gone through the humbling, now I will pour it out corporately.”
I thought cleaning houses was a humiliating place to be, now I realize, it is exactly where God needed me so that I could turn my eyes back to Him and hear what He is doing as He also softened my heart further.
I don’t know what the process will look like for you, but my encouragement to you is this, heed the humbling, do not, and I repeat, do not resist the humbling. Will it be hard? Yes! Will there be tears? Yes! Will you want to just call it quits? Probably. But it is so very worth it! The humbling is not a punishment. The humbling is only to make room for what matters most! Him. His perfect love and genuine love for others to arise. It makes room for what we have prayed for, it makes room for more of His good plans for us, it makes room for peace, joy and abundance of love.
The great humbling has begun, it will only bring goodness, ushering in the heart of repentance which invites the holy presence of the Lord. This is what will make way for the great awakening of pure hearts, the awakening of genuine people with pure motives. Nothing hidden. Let the humbling do its work in you, transforming your reality to His.
“Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2 NLT
